Silek is the famous martial art from Minangkabau / Sumatra.
Sijobang - the singing of a poetic narrative about the legendary hero - is a form of popular entertainment in the area around 50 koto / Payokumbuah, in the highlands of West Sumatra.
The Randai is based on the movement repertoire of the silek called art of self defense. Randai is a folk theater tradition of the Minangkabau ethnic group which incorporates music, singing, dance, drama and the Silek or Galuik martial art.
This video was taken in Ensemble Theater Vienna during dress rehearsal annual gala from Pandeka Mihar Institut on november 30th 2008.
